When does the doctor start checking cervix in 3rd tri?

When does the doctor start checking cervix in 3rd tri? I'm 31 weeks and I remember with my first she checked me late in the homestretch but can't remember how many weeks.

My doctor told me they start at 36 weeks, but I'm opting out of all my checks. It can be misleading before labor.

I didn't get checked with my first until 39 weeks and I was in labor lol. I declined starting at 37 weeks just because nothing significant was happening.

I think it really depends on the doctor and patient. My doctor started checking me at 30 weeks because I've been having lots of contractions and I have gestational diabetes.
