Commuting to college everyday?

Question

Can i have some opinions on commuting if you’ve done it before. I’m starting grad school this fall and may need to commute 40 minutes away everyday if i can’t find housing closer, which i don’t want to do. Is it a good thing to drive to school?

I commute 2h a day, sometimes more depending on the time I'm going back. I get a bus and two subways. It's shitty, I won't lie. It's a lot of time waste that you could be resting, studying, in your bed. Anything. But I mean, you gotta do what you gotta do. Life ain't easy lol

I commuted to school with about a 30 min drive... it’s not too bad as long as your willing to get up early enough to drive there... just don’t schedule yourself early classes lol

I commute about 45 min everyday to school. It sucks but it’s worth it ! It’s not too bad. You will get used to it and it will feel like 10 min.

I drive about 40 minutes to school everyday and I’ll admit it sucks and not the best during winter if you get ice where you live. But it’s cheaper for me to drive back and forth (19 and live with my parents) instead of renting an apartment. I’m saving money to rent an apartment when I transfer to my university within the next 2 years.

I commute an hour to school every day, if there is no traffic.  Part of the drive is over a really long bridge with very few exits, and if there is an accident, you are going to be there awhile.  I always allow for 45 mins to an hour extra, just in case.  I don't like to be stressed and giving myself this extra time means that I won't be  in a rush, or stressed about missing any class if traffic is a problem.  The commute let's me think about what I have going on that day, remind myself of homework for the day, etc.  The extra time once I get to school, if there is any, allows me to go over materials and be more prepared, or get started on whatever homework I need to worry about (like any projects I know are due soon).

I used to commute to a school about 20 min away from my house, but would take 45 every morning due to traffic. It wasn’t all that bad and I got into a routine quickly because I had to accommodate for traffic. I had several different route options I could choose between depending on level of traffic, so that helped a lot. I’m going to be doing that again this fall at a new uni though, so I have to explore route options again
