My boyfriends thoughts on the existence of white privilege. What do you think? Personally, I think it exits.

Only those that do not understand white privilege or are truly racist have that mindset. In America white privilege most certainly exists.

Your boyfriend is definitely ignorant as hell , and his little thesis statement he came up with to say white privilege isn’t real is a weak one . There are scholarships for ANYTHING . Being from a certain state , having a favorite color , community service ... statistically we know the wealth gap is big and minorities are usually on the losing side so I don’t see why it’s a problem to have scholarships for poor people in general . He’s acting as though there isn’t regular scholarships. Also minorities/ Black people getting a job before someone who is white is a help to some people but it’s mostly companies looking out for themselves because THEY GET A TAX BREAK FOR HIRING POC.  If people took time to do research rather then just think minorities have it easy they would see stuff like that doesn’t mean shit . White privilege isn’t saying “white people dont have hard lives” it’s “your life wasn’t hard because of what your skin tone is”. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

I used to believe the same thing until someone explain to me what white privilege really means. I’m not saying he’s not racist or ignorant, but I’m inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt because I used to feel the same.

I knew someone that didn’t get a job that they were very qualified for and another candidate that was African American that wasn’t as qualified got it which is great but how is it when that happens the other way around it’s white privilege but the other is not black privilege? Genuinely curious.
