Anyone great with finances? Please help lol.

So I am 20, my SO is 22. We are living with his mom while I’m in school (I work part time in retail) and he is a plumbers apprentice. So he doesn’t have to go to school, it’s like a trade and he works his way up.

I make $8.00/hr right now (minimum wage in my state is $7.25) and he makes $11.00/hr.

I work about 25 hours a week. He works 40.

Monthly we make about $2300.00 combined. We have to pay his car payment which is $240.00 right now (he will be done paying in February it will be paid off)

My insurance - $165.00/month

His insurance- $80.00/month

Both of our phone bills- $80.00/mth

And we spend about $300.00 each month in gas for our cars and going out to eat sometimes.

So we don’t have a lot of bills to pay and yet we never seem to have any money. We really want to save up and build credit so we can move out eventually, but we have no idea where to start. Or how to budget money, or anything. He is moving up soon in plumbing, like in 5 months, so he will start making $18.00/hr. Once I have my associates degree I can get a better job too with more pay.

Our ultimate goal is to move out in the next year- two years. Is that possible?? 😂 help!

Oh also we live in an area with a low cost of living. The average houses are like $90,000-$100,000. And those are houses in cute neighborhoods. Like 3 bed 2 bath homes.
