No more “snow days”

Tayste

Okay guys, I saw this on Facebook and don’t have any sources to back it up (I know I know, I suck a little). But for argument sake, let’s pretend it is real. And of course would only apply to schools that get snow.

When I was in high school, we had “blizzard bags” that we had to do if we missed too many days. We had a total number of hours we could miss before we made them up, so 2 hour delays, 1 hour delays, and early dismissals all took from our total hours, along with missing a whole day. Once we used them up, to avoid making up days, we had blizzard bags. Which was homework assignments posted online that we had to print and complete and turn in. We had two weeks from our first day back to complete the assignments.

Now, with this, students could access all their work online. So no more snow days at all.

What do you guys think? Some of the Facebook comments were angry because this time is “time off” for their kids. I, personally, wouldn’t have liked it in school. (That’s my comment in the pic). I didn’t have internet access or cell phone service at home growing up. I had to print my blizzard bags at school the day we got back. I want your opinions. Good idea? Bad idea? What happens to the kids like me, that don’t have access? (And remember it’s snowing so going to a library wasn’t an option for me, plus my parents were at work and it would’ve taken an hour to walk into town)
