Today at 38.5 I went in crying because of my pain to my OB. I told her I wanted to start my maternity leave now otherwise I may lose my Job as I am a floor nurse and work 12 hour shifts and because of pain, I can’t perform at work anymore. I can’t sleep because of pain. I also can’t afford more absences.

Her exact words were “you have no medical reason to be on leave right now, women work up to their due dates all the time.” She said she would put in writing that I “desire” to start my leave despite leave not being medically necessary at this time—which does absolutely nothing for me except make me look like a wimp. She was just very insensitive with her approach to me and dismissive. I literally cried in the bathroom after my appointment. My husband was even insulted by the way she spoke to me.

I just needed to vent 😓 I don’t need any explanations as to why the doctor is right, I just need some ears to hear me out. please wish me luck as I will have to continue to work most likely.
