Freshman college advice?

I am going to a big university this fall and I’m moving in August 26th. I am kinda excited but mostly nervous. Any advice for living with a roommate, community bathrooms, and parties? My university is a big party school so I want to attend them, but don’t want to get totally fucked up all the time lol.

Reach out to our roommate before move in! Set some boundary rules and learn about each other’s pet peeves and expectations.
Be able to communicate. If you don’t speak up about things that bother you, your roommate will not know 
Don’t leave out personal items or important documents. Buy a trunk that you can put a lock on for things that you don’t want people to have access too
Ask before using your roommates things and stay out of their personal space
If you want to set the room up a certain way, you better wake up early and move in as soon as move in starts.
For community bathrooms, BUY SHOWER SHOES. Please don’t be one of those people who get in the public shower bare foot....it’s nasty. 
Purchase a robe and at least 2-3 towels and wash cloths. 
Get a plastic shower caddy 
Don’t leave your things unattended 
For parties, know your limit.
If you choose to drink, do not drink anything that you did not see get made and do not drink anything that didn’t come from an unopened can/bottle. 
Go to parties with a decent amount of people in your friend group. I say this so you can all look out for each other. You NEVER know what could happen. 
Send your location to your friends if you have to
When you go to parties, bring your phone, a charger, and some cash. Leave other important things at home because you may lose something or get it stolen. It’s never happened to me but you never know

Buy shower shoes!! 
Know your limit/ be aware of your surrounding. Especially the people you hang with. 
Definitely mingle though , have fun . Freshman year is SO FUN!

For roommates you can sit with them and set down some rules/boundaries but really try to get to know them and hang out with them. Know your limits with alcohol and when to quit, and just enjoy yourself 😊 college is an awesome experience! You will find a rythem eventually.
