My birth story
It’s finally my turn!!
On 06/08/18 I was taken in to he induced at 38 weeks due to Gestational Diabetes and Metformin. We got to the hospital at 7am and was scanned and then monitored for an hour and then examined, I was basically nothing so she told me she would insert a 24 hour gel thing and examine me again at 8am the next day.
I was monitored frequently throughout the day and began having some contractions at 1pm (by 3pm I thought they were bad, I didn’t know what was to come 😂) I was taking paracetamol and codeine religiously for the pain!
By 12am I was in so much pain and couldn’t sleep through it and asked for more pain relief, she asked if I would like diamorphine and I said no so just took the paracetamol and codeine. 3:45am my waters broke and I asked for the diamorphine 😂 the pain!!! I was only 2cm and told I couldn’t have the epidural yet. She was going to examine me again at 5:45am to see how I had progressed.
By 5:30 I was in soooo much pain I was crouched over the toilet needing to be sick so I rang the buzzer for her to come, she quickly examined me and I was 10cm and couldn’t have the epidural!!! I sobbed. It was time to start pushing.
Started pushing at 7am and was pushing for 1 hour and 20 minutes with no luck, dozing in and out of sleep off the drugs, so she asked the dr to come in and assist. Dr told me baby was back to back and I would have to be cut and he would have to use suction to get baby out... 10 minutes later baby was born, her shoulders got stuck along the way and I had to be stitched my goodness I never prepared myself for any of it! I felt sooo poorly after from the diamorphine!
My baby Ella born 07/08/18 @ 8:30am weighing 7lb 8oz. 💗
