no sex after IVF pregnacy???

hello,  DH and I got our very first BFP after our 2nd FET.  Our RE says no sex until after 10 weeks.  We couldn't have sex between our transfer and beta either.  Does anyone else have this stipulation???

Yep.  Both IVF pregnancies we were told no sex until second trimester.  This round with all the bleeding I have had the last thing I am worried about is sex.  Plus may people spot like crazy after sex and I do not want one more thing to worry about.  Nor is nausea helping me feel in the mood.  Lol

My clinic told me I can have sex as soon as the pain from the collection subsided and even after the transfer no issues! I don’t believe there’s an issue but its hard to have sex with progesterone suppositories in there three times a day!! :)

Yes! Had my FET on June 25th. We haven’t had sex since shortly before transfer. My RE says no sex until she releases us to my OB at 12 weeks. Her reasoning is because it could cause bleeding and with a history of MC she doesn’t want to take any chances.

I never understand this. Sex doesn’t cause miscarriages and my doctors specifically said sex was fine.  I am in Europe so maybe different rules - but it just seems like a completely unnecessary restriction without real medical basis.  Sex isn’t dangerous in pregnancy (and after IVF you’re just pregnant like all other pregnant women) unless you have placenta previa or something.

We saw a lot of women on forums saying their docs told them to wait 4, 6, 8, 10 weeks and more after the transfer and asked my RE about this. Her practice suggests waiting 4-5 days and says there really is no risk after that. Surprising how much variation there is in doc recommendations on this issue!

Yes! And I’m okay with it because I have zero energy and I don’t want to risk the baby quite yet.

Yes after every FET we are told no sex until we see a heartbeat on the ultrasound which they usually schedule for 7-8 weeks along. This is pretty common with IVF.

My RE actually encourages sex! He says 24hrs after FET. We didn’t wait and I’m 20w tomorrow :)

Sooooo i think i may have "O'd" in my sleep.  The doc said no sex or orgasms.  I can't control what happens in my sleep.  I hope it doesn't keep happening.

Yes. Currently 9w4d and the no sex rule is not over any time soon. Although, I was diagnosed with a SCH after I experienced heavy bleeding at 6w and was put on bed rest. So the no sex is more for that than the FET. But I’d rather be safe than sorry. It’s hard, but a few weeks without sex to ensure baby is healthy and safe, now that’s a good reason to not have sex.
