I was in labor with my first for a total of 34 hours 😞 I was a one the first 12 hours and my doctor was barely able to break my water it was just miserable! 
But honestly some women get their water broke and get the epidural and their body just starts to go really fast into labor so maybe you will!

I was scheduled for an indication on July 18 at exactly 38 weeks. When they checked me out they realized I wasn't dialated at all, I wasn't even having any contractions! They didn't have beds in antepartum available so I was sent home. The next morning we went back in for 8am and I was still not dialated. Because of my high blood pressure (reason for induction) they decided to use a foley to get things started. They inserted the foley at 11:30 a.m.
At 11:30 p.m. they were able to easily remove the Foley and I was a "stretchy 4cm." They broke my water and started me on oxytocin. I got an epidural about 45ish mins later and I was able to get some sleep. Oxytocin/pitocin brings on contractions really hard and really fast so I suggest getting it. Three epidural top ups later we decided for C-section because of my sporadic blood pressure and I was only at a "solid 4cm." Our little man was born on July 20 at 11:56 a.m.
