Birth story 37 weeks 6 days surprise gender!

Brooke

Last Sunday night my anxiety was super high I felt off and my babies started school the next day. My baby would start his first day of school in pre-k. Well I could not sleep for anything!!! Then around 1:30 I got in the shower b/c my back was killing me! I could not get comfortable at all!! While I was in there I kinda felt this pinching feeling down in my girl stuff. So I got out the shower and just went to the living room and was setting in the recliner and I felt like I was kinda peeping myself. It didn’t stop it wasn’t a lot it was just like a trickle so I got up and went to the bathroom and I sat down and it it was just steadily coming. I was not sure if my water broke or not. So I put a pad on and went back to the living room. Well it still didn’t stop I stood up and it was like boom had a gush and soaked my pad. I went to my husband and I told him I don’t want to freak you out but I think my water broke. I then start crying hysterically b/c I new I was going to miss my babies 1st day of school. My daughter 7yo would be in 2nt grade and my son 4yo would start pre-k 😭. I call my doctor and they tell me to go to the hospital and I have already Soaked like two or three pads by this time it Close to 230 in the morning now. I call my mom and tell her and I drop the kids off to her with their first day of school clothes and everything and we head off to the hospital. When I get out the car at the hospital I flood the parking lot my pants are just dripping wet! I get up to L&D; and they check to see if it is my water with a little strip and it kept coming back negative. So they had to do a different test with some sort of stick that they have to keep in there for 15 seconds that test came back positive. For some reason in my mind I was totally in denial I didn’t think they were going to keep me I thought I would be sent back home but i was admitted and I was only at a 1 to 2 cm dilated. They left me for a little while to see if I would make any progression on my own and see if contractions would start. They came in around eight and I was only at two and my contractions were all over the place so they started Pitocin. They bumped it up every 20 minutes. I labored all day contractions weren’t too bad I could handle it I didn’t need any type of medication. My husband was the best at Helping remind me to breathe. He was just absolutely wonderful the entire time. Around six o’clock pm they started getting really intense. My midwife came in and she noticed that my babies head was stuck on my pubic bone so she also notices that I have four bag of water so she pops that and when she does the babies head came straight down. She also tells me that I was only at five cm dilated. After she popped that water it really got intense and they were coming every two minutes. Around 625 she told my husband put his gloves on and at 6:31 my husband delivered our baby. I did it with no pain medication on Pitocin.

We didn’t find out the gender so he was the one who got to tell me that it was a girl!!! This was the most wonderful breathtaking experience of my entire life. Kind of wish I could do it all over again. Only thing I would change is my denial. Our sweet baby girl weighed 6 lbs. 7 oz. and was 18 1/4 inch long. Poor little face was bruised but other than that she was healthy as can be!! Welcome to the world Sophia Elysie! 💓🎀

Now our sweet girl is a week old! And we had her baby shower yesterday haha
