When you asked for help with PPD/PPA...

What was your experience asking for help and what was the advice or meds that really helped?

I started seeing a therapist who specializes in postpartum....that definitely helped, although I’m waiting on another appointment and it’s been 2 weeks...I definitely need to go again. I’m not interested in meds at this point, but if I end up needing them down the line it is what it is. Right now I’m trying to get out of the house as much as possible, chatting with friends about what’s going on (and my husband, of course) and practicing mindfulness. I have eh days and good days...

I tried exercise/getting outside or out of the house, talking to people who experienced the same symptoms, eating healthier, and *trying* to rest as much as I could. Still couldn’t handle the feelings of depression and anxiety.  Talked honestly with my doctor and cried telling him that my daughter deserved a better mama. He prescribed Lexapro (10 mg). Within a week I was so much better.
