Best type of birth control ?

I’m 17 and The only form of birth control I have taken has been the shot. I did some research but if anyone else has taken the shot is it effective ? I need opinions and tips :)

I believe pill works best. Weight is easily controlled, just work out and try not to eat out all the time and you don’t have to worry about it.

Shot made me gain 40 pounds in 9 months. 
When I got off it , it took me 6 months just for my periods to return

I was on the shot when I was 15 and I just got back on it today cause I got my mirena taken out cause I had so many problems with my mirena iud.
