Castor Oil to Induce??

Just wondering if anyone had used castor oil to induce labor. If so, how many weeks were you & did it work?!

When it's effective at beginning labor, castor oil may cause irregular and painful contractions, which can be stressful to mom and baby alike. This can lead to exhaustion. It may also cause your baby to pass meconium, or their first stool, before delivery. I wouldn't risk it.

My mother (a midwife) always cautions her clients not to use it. But if they insist they want to try she asks them to wait until a week after their due date.
No point jumping the gun when Baby isn’t ready to come yet.

my mother in law did it, her son pooped in his water and she had to have a c section. i wouldn’t do it.

I’ve heard awful things about it and that it’s not recommended, I wouldn’t risk it.

Baby will come when they are ready. Talk to your doctor about options for induction as your due date approaches, most OBs will not recommend castor oil because there are better options available.
