42+ 2 birth story

Sandra

On June 9 I was 42 weeks and a day pregnant, my doctor wants to induce birth at 40 weeks but I opted out after reading about all the methods of induction and stories of mothers who have gone through it.

At week 42, no show, not even a sign of birth. I ate all the spicy foods, pineapples, the teas and nothing; I started feeling frustrated and scared to go in for the induction, so I told myself, let me just wait for a day since it’s my due date, she will eventually show up by the close of the day, but at 6pm on it he 9th of June, nothing was happening so we went to the hospital for the induction.

Upon arrival, my doctor smiled and said, we have to do the induction now before anything happens to both of you. He check my water and the position of the baby and everything was fine for vagina birth, so he stripped the membrane and put two tablets of some little drugs( I don’t remember the name) and I was admitted, my husband and my mother in law was working with me and the doctor mentioned that I will probably give birth the next day so I asked to go home to have some rest since we live 15 minuets away from the hospital.

I rested in bed for about 44 minuets and nothing was happening, the midwife came in and ask if I wanted an epidural and I quickly said no, about 15 minuets after she left I started feeling uncomfortable and then the contractions kicked in, there was no intervals between them, I think it was about 15 or 30 seconds between them but it felt like there was no intervals.

I started screaming and I nurse took me to the birthing room, asked me to take a shower, I was 3cm when I was checked in, and I was 7 cm before I took the shower, in less than an hour, I moved from 3 to 7cm and after the shower which lasted about 10 minuets, I was ready to push.

The doctor and the midwife came in and I had to push but I wasn’t pushing correctly so the doctor left and I was doing practice pushing with the midwife, it hurt so bad that I refused to push, I asked for the epidural when I first got to the birthing room but it didn’t work, I could feel everything, I scream and cried out for my mum, luckily my mother in law couldn’t sleep because she felt bad for leaving me all by my self in the hospital since it was my first child so she tried calling me and because I wasn’t picking the calls she came in and that was a bit of relief, she held my hands and talks me through it, I pushed for about 6 hours and the midwife had to step on a something to press my stomach, until the baby’s head popped out and with a few pushes the shoulders were out and the doctor pulled her out. I thought it was over, then I was asked to push again for the placenta, I wanted to die there, everything I read about given birth was forgotten when I was in labor, I was literally acting like a child, then they gave me my baby and all the pain went away.

She was 3.9kg and 27cm at birth. Now we she is a month and 15 days with the weight of 6kg and 30cm

At present
