Hello! I’m a US civilian living in Germany and a friend just moved here. We’re planning to meet up next month. I don’t have access to base facilities but my friend plans to take my husband (he’s german) my newborn and I out to eat on base. My husband has his passport, I have my passport and german residence permit but my newborn doesn’t have his yet. We have an appointment at the consulate to do the report of birth abroad and passport application but at not until after we meet up with my friend. We visited another friend on base a few years ago when another of our children was a baby, and if I remember correctly we didn’t need to present a passport for the baby because she was under a certain age. Is this correct? Will we be able to get signed on base without a passport for my son? He’ll be less than 2 months old at the time we plan to go. We have all the documentation from the german hospital where I gave birth, german birth certificate, etc. Do we need anything else?
