First midwife appointment - partners?

Hi,
I am due to have my first appt with my first in 2 weeks. Not sure whether you take your other half along. When I booked and asked the receptionist said it was just a chat and taking blood etc. so he wouldn't miss anything. But don't want him to think he's missing out. Also I know they go through the tests you can have and the risks of these so thought I would definitely want him there for that. Did you all take your partners??

For my first I went on my own. My husband joined she  I was further along and it was just measuring and hearing the heart beat. First few appointments are long chats. This time around I'll do the same. Scans though are a def.

Mine came with me to the booking appointment. I have nothing to hide or be embarrassed about. It also helped because we had to mention something medical on his side. He came to the dating scan and wants to come to as many appointments, other than my Gestational diabetes. I’ve been told I’m on my own there 😂

I took partner to mine and he was allowed in for most of the appointment. However at th end he was asked to leave for a few “private questions” which basically were linked to domestic violence and checking that you are ok and any concerns you might want to bring up without them there.

I had my booking appointment last week, it lasted an hour and was form filling and blood tests. He'd have been bored out of his mind. As the men are only entitled to time off work for 2 appointments he's saving these for scans. (Though they will let him do flexi if he wants to come to others). One tip a mummy friend told me - at the 16 week appointment they listened to the heart beat. She didn't know in advance so didn't bring her husband and they were both gutted he missed it. But the first one is a bit boring and you don't really discuss options or anything. My husband will probs want to come to most of them.

We both went to the booking one the first time and both of us for scans, routine midwife appts I went myself. I have my booking appointment tomorrow for our second and both of us are going and will be same with scans. He likes to be part of the whole process as much as possible.

At mine they went through both mine and my partners medical history and our families history too so it was a good idea for him to be there at the first one.

I took mine to most appointments. He works shifts so it was the ones he was off work for, and the scans obviously. 
If they have the time off work then it’s nice for them to go. I think in the UK men get two antenatal appts off work legally so its best to use those for the scans!  Good luck :)
