12 week scan- no food or drink before?

Question

Hey ladies, wondering if anyone had their doctor tell them they can’t eat or drink before their next appointment? I will be having blood work done and another ultrasound (for 12 weeks) and the nurse at the office told me I can’t drink or eat the night before until after the scan...anyone else had this request? 
Sorry, my first pregnancy and I just can’t imagine going that long without water. Haha

My guess is its for the blood work. A fasting panel will help determine if gestational diabetes might be an potential issue.

Just had mine last week and they didnt tell me not to eat or drink. Still had bloodwork and everything.

You can drink water but no other drink or food for 12 hours. My doctor also suggested not eating any sugar for 24 hours before the bloodtest - even fruit and juive and etc

I would say definitely still drink water. I think they mean anything except water, like juice.

You’re probably getting a glucose test done. I was told not to eat or drink (a lot) a couple of hours before my test. Sips of water is fine but don’t chug it.
