Traveling for shower in January

Im due Feb 10th and I know its still early but my mom and I started talking about the baby shower. I work in retail so it’s best to get it in the books asap with the busy season coming. She mentioned having it in January after the holidays however it would be almost 2.5 hour travel time for me. I’ll be close to my last month or 1.5 and I had previously talked about staying home for Christmas this year so I wouldn’t have to travel at the end of Dec.

I live in upper NY near the lake and both of our parents live right across the boarder in PA. Im grateful that I’m having a shower thrown for me, so I’m not trying to be demanding but will it be a safety issue or even just plain uncomfortable doing a 5 hour round trip in possibly 1 day. May be able to stay the night but depends on work.

Should I politely suggest a pre holiday party or try my best to travel in January?
