What does that mean?!

So my ex boyfriend used to always tell me that no one will love me like he can. What does that mean? I'm the one who's boyfriend went to jail & update: the police have him 30 days & then a bond. His mom went to visit him & told me that he loves me, is sorry, & is done with illegal stuff. I already broke it off & his mom understood. But why did he say that no one will love me like he can? I'm trying to cope with all of it & move on lol
