This is in regards to the US, but in general, do you agree or disagree with the sentiment?

Sort of. I do agree that many corporations can do better job of paying their employees a living wage, but I don’t like how this is written. It comes off as very assistance shaming.

I think this should be focused more towards the fact that corporations don’t pay  fair wages instead of shaming those who need assistance. Taxes should absolutely be used towards helping those who don’t make a living wage

Only a small fraction of our taxes gp to public services... i think we could make corporations pay their part for sure..   They get the biggest tax breaks and they pay their employees the least...  They could help fill the gap if they weren't so concerned about shareholders... Trump gave the Walton family the biggest tax break in history and Walmart and sams wages barely budged...

Ehh to an extent yes i agree but its complicated. 
If youre working an entry level job with minimal education an experience demanding a $15 an hour salary plus benefits is CRAZY. I can understand $10 an hour entry level no experience, and maybe $12 an hour with some experience. After a certain number of hours be eleigable for benefits. 
As far as people who have extended education and moving into a career field then at that point i feel like a $15 minimum starting is more acceptable. 
The problem isnt just corporations not paying well enough, its the overall cost of living, and the cost to further your education. 
As ive said b4 and ill say it again, raisinv the minimum wage only incentivizes employers to replace entry level work with A.I. , essentially leading to the loss of entry level work, increasing unemployment rates, and quite possibly forcing people to either go to college or take their chances on the minimal entry level work that might be available. OR of the minimum wage were to be raised, the cost of the product will increase essentially increasing the overall cost of living leading to what another raise in minimum wage? These solutions are just a bandaid to the cost of living issue we face nation wids. U cant sit here and tell me the existing greedy corporate heads, are going to be willing to take a salary cut in the event of a minimum wage increase, theyre either gonna do layoffs or theyre gonna raise the cost of the product.

There is a huge difference between minimum wage and living wage. If you make $7.25 an hour and work full time (40 hours a week), you’ll make $1,160 a month before taxes. Take home pay would be less than $1,000 a month. Rent, utilities and food will eat up a huge chunk of that. Throw in transportation, childcare, clothing, etc and it’s nearly impossible to save any money. I’m not saying it can’t be done, but the deck is stacked against the lower class. 
So much inequity still exists in this country.

Minimum wage is set by the government. Did you forget that? And a quick lesson on sociology will teach you why minimum wage and having people in welfare is actually a crucial part of our system.

While I do agree that everyone who works should be paid a living wage it's naive to think that it shouldn't cost "taxpayers". The money may not come from taxes but there would be an increase in the cost of products and services so the money would still come from the people just in a different way. Yes businesses could use some of their profits towards it but it makes no business sense whatsoever to not want to make money so no business would take the full hit themselves for living wages, it would come from price increases.

I agree. The taxpayers pay enough. If people don't earn enough to survive then they need to do things to cut down on their expenses. Houseshare (this saves you a fortune), buy in bulk and share with family or friends, move to a cheaper area, etc.
I get that some people really and truly battle to survive financially, but instead of making it the taxpayers problem, people need to these survival skills and learn to cope. Everything is the taxpayers problem as it is. It's just not feasible to make the taxpayers pay for everything.
