Do you think today kids are growing up faster?
Do you feel like today kids are growing up faster? If so please answer why or why not. Please explain your personal experiences with this. Do you feel our culture and technology has influenced this in any way?
So recently I had a few encounters with both my brother (14) and my husbands younger sister (14), and both of them talk about drugs and other subjects as if they are 21 years old. I find it kind of odd. I mean I remember being 14 and there was talk here and there and I’m sure there were kids that did stuff but it seems more prevalent. I notice a lot of young middle school or high school aged influencers on Instagram and a lot of them sexualize themselves or attempt to look much older than they are.
I think sadly a lot of them actually think they are older than they are. My sister in law who is 14 almost acts offended if she’s not included in activities with her older brothers who are 18 and above with their friends, she tries to hang out with people(boys in particular) who are well above her age and I find it kind of inappropriate
Personally I feel like social media has shifted our culture in many ways and I think one of those ways is influencing people to grow up quicker, there’s nothing wrong with maturity but unfortunately I think many of these kids are acting older or thinking they are older then they mentally can handle and I think that is very damaging and an unhealthy way to grow up
