Cloth diapers?

I am just looking for opinions and real life experiences with cloth diapers. I hear they are a cheaper alternative but can be very very messy (all diapers can be lol) Any kind of information would be very helpful 😊 Thank you!

We cloth diaper and love it. We use disposables occasionally and totally prefer cloth. 
We EBF and do NOT have blow outs in cloth diapers. He can hardly poop at all without it coming out of a disposable. 
We made our cloth stash for less than $300, and that’s including buying several different kinds and brands to figure out what we liked best. 
We use Alva Baby pocket diapers. I really like BumGenius too, but Alva’s are just way more affordable ($5 vs $15). Since we exclusively breastfeed, poo is water soluble so we just put diapers in a pail and wash every 2 days or so. I run them through a quick wash with no detergent. Then a heavy wash with Tide. 
I promise it’s not as gross as it seems. My husband was very leery about cloth diapering and won’t even hardly use a disposable now. It is a tiny bit more work, but it saves serious money, is better for the environment and better for baby’s bottom.

Don’t listen to the lady saying about bow-legged, stinky babies. If you have a proper wash routine there will be no stink. Diapers DO NOT cause deformities in babies. A lot of research is out there about that. My son is cloth diapered and not bow legged and had met all of his milestones 😂😂🤷‍♀️ We even tried biodegradable diapers once and the rash they gave him was terrible...and it happened every time we tried them. I’ve never had a blow out with cloth but have with disposable. It might take a few tries to get the right snap coordination and inserts for no pee leaks but he leaks in disposables sometimes as well.

We have been using cloth for a little over a year now and it’s been great! And no your child will not be bow legged! That’s stupid!  Sorry people spread false info and have no idea! We will use cloth! Already at my house we use fabric napkins and kitchen towels and are generally against disposable stuff.  My mom bought us 2 months of diaper service for right after baby is born, so we wont have to do the washing right off the bat. We built a stash from used diapers of many kinds and once we know what kind works best, we can buy more.

Following. I’ve been debating it to try to save money but it also seems kind of gross to me at the same time, so I’m not sure what I’ll end up doing. Are cloth diapers as absorbent as regular ones? How do you deal with going out, since you don’t toss them when they’re dirty?

I worked at a daycare in an infant room for 5 years and all cloth diapers I experienced were a nightmare. If they had a service they were cleaned with unbelievable amounts of chemicals and if they cleaned them themselves their child permanently smelled like urine and feces. And most of the children that learned to walk with cloth diapers were bow legged for awhile because of all the bulk between their legs. Go with biodegradable disposables! Way easier, your kid won’t smell and won’t have all those toxic chemicals touching their skin from what you nave to use to clean cloth diapers!
