Flu shot?

Question

The doctor asked if I wanted to do the flu shot. I do vaccinate my son but she said the flu shot is an option and won’t NEED anymore shots until he is 4. 
My question is even though he doesn’t need it should I still do it? My mom says I shouldn’t that’s why I’m questioning it.

Statistically the odds of getting the flu after the shot are the same as when you don’t. So we choose not to. None of my family has had the flu in 3 years. Do what your gut tells you is best for you!

I do. If they do get the vaccine and get the flu anyway, the symptoms are less severe and it goes away more quickly. Last year’s flu was especially bad. Thankfully we didn’t get it.

I will never get myself or my kids the flu shot. Of all the vaccines this one is the  most nonsensical. Besides the guessing game of choosing the strain to cover, the side effects are just not worth it for the minimal 'immunity' it might give.
Also, studies show the vaccinated shed the virus just by breathing, not even coughing is required for up to 28 days afterward.  The flumist warns 89% of children shed. So there's the opposite of herd immunity going on with the flu vaccines.

So I have gotten my daughter all of her flu shots and she is the unlucky kid. Every year she has been hospitalized with the flu. And it's bad. Which made me not want to even bother with the vaccine this year, because well, if she is getting the flu yearly anyways it just seems pointless. However, she is in day care and it is required so we will get it. Maybe this will be her lucky year? Hopefully.

I didn’t give it to my 6 month old because he stayed home and wasn’t around other kids. I don’t believe in getting it unless it’s absolutely needed. But if your child is that old and coming in contact with others and toys and other filthy surfaces then I would say get it.
