Confused on due date???

I’m confused.... so I just got a positive test today!! (Yay!!) and it asked for the first day of my last period (August 1).... I only just ovulated on August 22- but it says I’m 4 weeks, 1 day today. Due may 13. How is this possible if I’m only 13 dpo???? Please help explain!

Because they go by your last period not the day you ovulate

Your fetal age and pregnant by weeks is different. For example I’m 5 weeks pregnant but my fetal age is 3 weeks. When a baby comes out at 40 weeks it’s actually 38 weeks. Your body is getting ready for pregnancy every month, if you get pregnant it keeps going if you don’t then it starts over. If that makes any sense

Most women don’t know when they ovulate. So under the assumption that the average ovulation day for women is day 14, you are not actually pregnant for those first two weeks.
It’s simply to help doctors and women estimate a due date because it’s uncommon to know your ovulation day.
Since you know yours, you should use an ovulation calendar to estimate your due date, because for example I always measure a week small during pregnancy, but since I’m don’t ovulate till day 22 and not the assumed day 14, measuring a week behind is to be expected.

I think I may have ovulated those exact days (I didn’t test to be sure) what made you take a test today if you don’t mind me asking? I’m so nervous
