Going to a toddler bed ?

I have been thinking of transitioning my son to a toddler bed I am a first time mom and I am wondering why people wait so long? He does good getting on and off our sofa and a toddler bed is shorter to the ground then our couch so why do you wait ? He will be a year old on the 13th if September

I didn’t switch my daughter til she was almost 2. I would wait until he understands when you tell him to stay put. When he gets how excited you are and he can be about getting a big boy bed. Don’t rush the baby stage. He will be ready soon enough.

We just converted  the crib to a toddler bed and my daughter will be 1 next week. We are going to start letting her sleep in it. I have a rug and pillows on the floor incase she rolls off. She hated being in th crib and we figured, it's better to fall off toddler bed where it's low than having her climb and fall from top of crib. I understand why some may wait but if they are "ready" why not.

I’m going to wait until he starts trying to climb out. I’m not in any hurry!

I would wait u dont want him waking up in the middle of the night and wondering into anything while your asleep.
