Should parents eat lunch with their kids?
Now at one school I work at it isn’t allowed (lower income neighborhood and school) but the other one I work with are full of the elite and their children go to this school if they don’t opt for private. I go to this school almost every day so I see THE SAME parents eating with their kids, sometimes new parents will come for their kids and grandparents but I’m thinking that this isn’t very beneficial for the child. For one thing there is no talking during lunch (my brain with social thinking skills are screaming that that’s wrong too) so the ones with their parents get to chat and talk and laugh and eat their chick-fila while the other students are staring on sadly. They may not get to see their parent during the school day or none at all, they have that constant reminder right there that they have to stare at because they all have to face that direction. Also I don’t think the mothers are giving their child a chance to follow school rules and do what the other children have to do, again I’m talking about the ones who show up EVERY day to eat with the kid. I don’t know, I’ll never say anything but that’s the thought running through my mind. Thanks for reading!
