When Do You Feed Your LO ?

Background Info: I am a FTM, He was born at 8lbs .9oz. He is currently 1w2d old & Is being formula fed. Since day one I have been feeding him every time he would wake (& that would be +-2oz every 3-6 hours) My baby boy would stay a tad bit hungry at the end of the feeding but I thought it was in his best interest not to over feed him (if he was still fussy after a bit of being up I would feed him a tad bit more) After taking my mothers advice I decided to put him on a feeding schedule as well as up the amount of formula I feed him. I've been currently feeding him 2.5-3oz every 3 hours and now I feel like I am over feeding him. How often & how much do you guys feed your LOs & How can I figure out how much and how often I should feed my LO without over feeding him. Any tips/advice is welcome!

Newborns need to eat on a schedule every 2-3 hours until they regain their birth weight. Then feed on demand but id be hesitant to let them go longer than 4 hours in the first few weeks. My baby is 12 weeks old and eats every 3 hours or more frequently during the day. She goes for longer stretches at night though.

My baby is breastfed and supplemented at the breast with formula.

You can figure out how much they need by taking 150-200mL times their body weight in kilograms. That's how much they need in 24 hours.

When ever I see hunger signs I feed her... We don't eat on a specific time schedule so why should our babies. Remember they are used to feeding 24/7 in your belly. Feed your baby at time when they are hungry. Also my LC said not to worry about spitting up in the early days and weeks bc baby is trying to regulate ther body to see what they can handle. If you cut him off your doing a disservice to him..

I feed my baby when she is hungry which is about every 3-4 hours sometimes longer if she's asleep, sometimes 2 hours... She usually drinks about 3 to 4 oz.. She's a month old already and has a healthy weight and height.. 😊

I currently breastfeed and I was worried that I was overfeeding my LO. He is 8 days old. His doctor said its normal for a child to consume anywhere between two to four ounces when feeding. Idk about formula, but I've been feeding my child anytime he shows signs of hunger. Sometimes it's every 30 minutes and often I feed him every couple of hours. The baby will stop eating when he's done.
