Pumpkin Butter?

Hi all!
My husband and I just went apple picking for the first time this season! At the farm, we picked up some homemade pumpkin butter. I didn't even think to ask about pasteurization, and the jar doesn't say it is even though the ingredients are only pumpkin, apple juice, sugar, and spices. 
Is this okay to eat? Or should I heat it before eating?

Was it canned? If it was canned it had to have been heated. I probably wouldn't worry about it but you could always call and ask!

Are you in the US? If so, unpasteurized products must be clearly labeled as such according to the law. It’s most likely pasteurized since there is no label stating otherwise but you can always call and ask!

I’ve made it before and I don’t think there’s really anything in it that would be a problem. Mostly pumpkin, sugar, and spices - if you bought a fresh one, it likely doesn’t have preservatives in it and probably needs to be eaten in 2 weeks or so. And pumpkin is supposed to be good for you while pregnant.
