How do you bring down your baby's (over 12 months) fever?

I was just reading an Instagram post and it had mentioned that acetaminophen / tylenol is the number one cause of acute failure in the US. 😧

Im just wondering if anyone has heard anything like this? 
***please note I am not trying to say anyone is bad for giving or not giving a child medication, such as tylenol.  I am genuinely just curious and would like to know how other mothers feel and may have some facts about. Thank you.

According to any pharmacology book or reference I have ever seen has one warning about Tylenol: liver damage. If taken incorrectly (taking more than 4000 mg in a day for adults), it can lead to liver damage. Even then, it takes a long time of extended exposure to make any real damage. 
And no one “develops” autism 🙄

A fever is beneficial to your babies immune system, it means it’s doing its job. I don’t give Tylenol until about 103-104.

We’ve always found that Motrin worked better for our son when he has a fever so we usually go that route over Tylenol

I would treat with Tylenol OR Ibuprofen once the fever reaches 101 or 102 — anything higher can be dangerous for little ones & cause a fever induced seizure (I have had two friends have this happen to their babies)
I would also do cold pack with rag to forehead, NO blankets —maybe a sheet, popsicles...

I typically wait until the fever is actually a feve over 102. When the child begins acting like the fever is giving them chills,  sweats, tiredness, etc. This is when I treat with typically ibuprofen, since its given every 6 to 8 hours as needed. I also allow them to eat juice popcycles throughout the whole sickness since they have vitamin C, the coldness will help the fever, and they stay hydrated.

If it got high I gave her medicine, Tylenol for a fever and Motrin is she’s teething because it helps with inflammation. I give her a nice bath with semi warm water and plenty of liquids to drink! My daughter drinks so much water when she’s sick. Hope this helps ✨

Fever is one of the ways your body fights disease. When you get rid of symptoms, the body is pushed to do more than it's capable of and you stay sicker for longer and it can wreak havoc on your immune system. Just lots of cleat fluids and easy to digest, nutritious food, and lots of rest. Provide any breastmilk you may have saved.

We don't use acetaminophen in our house. My father has alpha-1 anti-tripsine deficiency (a genetic enzyme deficiency) and I could have or carry it and acetaminophen is REALLY hard on the liver.

Tylenol has never worked for me or my son, so I always use ibuprofen. I alternate both if my pediatrician recommends it, but typically the Tylenol doesn’t help. Nothing like that “causes” autism. The only real danger is liver damage
