(Read First re:Why)and then Is it okay to name a Future son the dying family name that is my sons middle name?

So my Grandpa 👴 passed away when I was literally giving birth to my 3rd my 2nd son so I gave him his name as one of his middle names along with the one I had already picked.

It’s a special rare, unique and dying name that also is a family name with special meaning it goes back many generations according to my mom she doesn’t even know how many but a lot where at least one boy in the fathers family has the name for like first son either first or middle name.

The name is Traugott (It means trust God) I like to think it’s similar to Truman or Truett but I’m not quiet sure.

So my Grandmas dad has it and I don’t know who else before.

My Grandpa on my moms side is Traugott Karl

his first son my moms brother is:

Emmanuel Traugott

His first and only son and only child:

Theodore Traugott he goes by Ted

He’s second child was a boy but sadly he didn’t want to carry on the special many generational tradition..

So even tho I’m not from the mans direct-line from my grandpa I’m sad it’s not kept going now cause of my cousin and glad it was meant to be how my son has it as a middle name but was thinking for a future baby boy to do Traugott as a first name as my kids have all T’s and maybe my boys can start the tradition from me again. Also I’m half German my mom is full but I can speak it pretty good thought it be neat to give him a full german name with middle to as I ❤️ my heritage and having culture even though I live in the USA.
