What do I do?

Shes 17 months, and has been pulling out her hair and eating it! I mentioned it to her doctor 2/3 days ago and they werent worried because shes so young. Is there anyways I can fix this? It looks like she has Male patterned baldness. 😐

Do not shave!!! I have tritchotillomania so I can tell you right now if you do anything to bring attention to her head or hair it can get worse. I’ve been pulling my hair out since I was 5 maybe younger. Studies say if you can stop her before she reaches 5-6 it won’t continue into adulthood. The key is to find out when she pulls (watching tv, coloring, sleeping?) and distract her hands. Don’t let her become aware she’s doing the pulling. Just move her hands. My daughter pulls when she’s having a bottle or when we’re watching a movie so when I see It I massage her hand and then give her a small stuffed animal and she holds onto that. I know it’s scary because these are our babies but because they are so young it can be reversed. Let me know if you have any questions regarding tritch in children or in general

Aw poor baby!! Have you tried headbands or hats?? What about rubbing something smelly but not harmful on her scalp and hair ( like we do to stop the nail biting habit)?

My daughter pulls on her hair when she gets tired and puts one or two of the strands in her hand and holds them as she sucks her thumb to go to sleep. It’s the strangest habit and when I get onto her it almost makes it worse. Her hair was getting super thin on one spot on top but now she started pulling at the back. I’m not really sure what the solution is.

They weren't worried? I think it could cause serious GI problems. I have no idea what they would do for such a young baby though. I'm so sorry
