Should we use the same name?

I have a friend who has a son with one of the names that me and my husband love for a boy. Would it be weird or rude to use it if we have a boy too? We don't live in the same town, see each other (it's been 5 years) ever or have any mutual friends anymore.

You could ask your friend if they’re comfortable with that but either way if it’s a name you and your so love then I’d just name the baby it.

I say yes!! Do it. We used the same name as a friend of ours... same situation we maybe see them once every 2 years if that. But on the other hand we've had our future daughters name picked out for years and everyone knew it and on of my best friends who we see almost monthly named her daughter it.. 😔 so now we wont use it if our next is a girl.

Whoops...I hit no but I meant yes. My cousin used a name that I had picked out for years not sure if I ever mentioned it to her or not but I’ve mentioned it to plenty of people. She had a daughter a year ago and used that name. I figured oh well chances are when or if we get pregnant again I’ll end up with a boy anyway. I’m 21 weeks with a baby girl. It seems to be the only name my husband and I agree on. I asked her and my other cousins(her 2 sisters)if I shouldn’t use it and they said just use it, it’s totally fine. I wish I could fall in love with another name, but it hasn’t happened yet. I see her once or twice a year. She lives an hour away. Love her lots.

Just determine if you'd feel ok using the same name or not. If it is the name that feels right regardless of what everyone else wants then do it.

I got confused. You ask if you should use the same name, but in the comments you ask if it is rude to use the same name. So that might cause confusion when people answer. I made it a specific point not to use anyone else’s name.
