Does size matter?

Sorry if this sounds silly I am a first time mom who’s currently still pregnant. I have naturally large breast, I’m a bra size G. I was wondering due to my large breast will I produce more milk or will I get the average amount (I know everyone is different so my average might not be yours I’m talking in a more general sense)

Size can be deceptive! The composition of breast tissue is what determines your supply mostly. Glandular tissue creates milk while fatty tissue doesnt, so someone could have large breasts that are mostly fatty tissue and they won't produce a ton while another could have small breasts that are mostly glandular tissue and have a lot of milk. I think the only way to know for sure before you start breastfeeding is to have a mammogram or like an MRI that looks at the tissue in your breasts.

I’m DD, I have a perfect supply. The only thing is bigger boobs make it slightly more difficult to breastfeeding discretely. I’m constantly fumbling my breasts around.

The size of your breast does not determine how much milk you will produce! It’s a myth

Oftentimes, larger breasted women can have difficulty nursing simply because of positioning. Look up some positions like football - I’m med breasted but have friends who gave up because they couldn’t get it to be comfortable and they regret not trying harder. Good luck!

I’m 34DDD, and I have a very average supply. I worried about low supply in the beginning, as many of my family members had it. I pumped too In the early weeks, which created oversupply and overactive letdown for a period of time. It adjusted once I stopped pumping. Having large breasts was very hard in the beginning as far as finding a position (football pose, all the way!). I also could not breastfeed hands free or one handed or lying down or “laid back” due to my size. It took both my hands to ensure proper latch and positioning and boy is it hard to just sit for an hour or so every 2-3 hours. Luckily, the hard times pass in 9-12 weeks! It seems so long, but it is so short.

You know what makes a difference!? I belive how much liquid you drink. Drink lots of water, soup, juice and of-course milk. Hopefully it will be awesome for you

I’m an average B cup and I was able to nurse my daughter without supplementing and also build up a supply stash. Size does not matter.
