Leaking / breast pads - how long did you leak/have to wear breast pads ?

My little guy is 5 weeks today and I’m wondering what’s everyone’s experience with how long you leaked/had to wear breast pads? I have been wearing Medela nipple shields and they’ve been great for helping me get better from the pain and soreness I was feeling. When I use breast pads my nipples get really irritated. Just wondering can I look forward to not having to wear either at some point or will this just be part of life as long as I’m breastfeeding??

I’m 4.5 months pp with my 2nd, breastfeeding, and I bfed my 1st for a year. So far, just like last time, I always wear them. I generally don’t leak a ton or frequently, but I have my moments. Sometimes it’s an issue first thing in the morning for me, but that can also happen if I hear a baby cry, especially if I haven’t fed my own/pumped in a while. Some of my clients will bring children, including infants, with them and if I hear a baby cry, I’m screwed!! 
I think getting cotton, machine washable ones help as does using nipple cream (helps with chafing). I heard Bamboozles (I think that’s right???) are good but haven’t tried them.

5 months pp, still leaking, still need the breast pads...I consider it a good problem to have haha I did invest in reusable pads, much more comfortable than the disposable in my opinion

I think I stopped wearing them regularly about 4 weeks in, but I still leak every once in a while. Reusable ones are so uncomfortable! I much prefer bamboobies

I’m five months pp. this is the second shirt I’ve milked through today. I’m working from home so it doesn’t matter but annoying. I still have to wear breast pads if I go out.

I wore them for 6 months, then decided I didn’t care anymore. And about a month later, I stopped leaking finally. Lol. Breastfed for 2 years

I’m 20 weeks PP and still wear them because I occasionally leak. It it has definitely gotten better. I usually leak when my daughter sleeps for longer stretches at night, so if I have to choose, I’m happy to wear the breast pads and have her sleep then them other way around
