My Miracle Delivery Story

Kaitlyn

So I went to my 40 week appointment on my due date at 10:30am... went in I was dilated 3cm and 50% effaced. So she put me on the list for induction that night at 8pm August 1st, 2018.

We go to the hospital that night, they start pitocin, nothing happened so Thursday morning, the 2nd they break my water at 10:00am. I get the epidural at 12:00pm... then we wait... I stalled at a 4 most of the day until about 6 or 7 I was an 8... then about 9 I start pushing... I couldn’t get the jist or pushing correctly, the nurses kept leaving me alone in the room which legally they cannot do...

I called the nurse and another nurse came in and said she was going to the bathroom... she’d be in whenever she could... so I’m pushing cause I can’t hold it while alone... about two hours later... I’m still pushing and he’s stuck... my tailbone pops and he shifts downward more... the doctor looks at the nurse and said call NEO little did I know I wasn’t pushing fast enough, the cord was around his neck and he was having decels... I continue pushing for another hour and he was born at 12:34am Friday morning August 3rd...

He was limp and very dark blue when he was born... cord was around his neck... so they work on him while everyone else even my doctor was white as a ghost watching them work on him...

Those were the longest moments I’ve ever experienced. Had they told me he was in danger you bet your ass I would have overcame any pain I was in to do what it took to get him here...

I knew they had to work on him but I didn’t realize the extent of what could have happened had we wait a second longer... I got the bill in the mail today... opened it not expecting anything too crazy until I saw the first thing that was billed....

“Newborn Resuscitation” $859.00

Resuscitation- “The act of reviving someone who is unconscious or from apparent death.”

Reading those words and realizing that those doctors literally SAVED my baby.

When someone passes out as when their airway is blocked or they aren’t breathing... they have 4 minutes or less to revive them or they can become brain dead... those are the scariest moments of my life... but he is here and safe and completely fine.
