I think it depends on the name. Something like Pierre or Francois might be weird, but other names could seem pretty natural.

It depend on the reason why you want to choose a french name?
For example if you have something special with France (traveling, book, movie...) I think it is ok.
The risk if the only reason you choose this name is because it sounds cool to you is that when your child will be ask the meaning behind his name he will have to say: - well my parents were full of themselves...
