My birth story

Emilynn

At 40 weeks and 2 days the doctor and I agreed to induce 2 days later on the 29th of August come in the evening and ripen the cervix then start the Iv the next morning, but after the visit she sent us over to do a stress test. There I found out the strong period like cramps I had been experiencing were contractions, but still not strong enough to keep me. We asked living 45 miles away when we should head in and they said 5-7 minutes apart. The ride home hurt every little bump would send me into a contraction and scared me on how much pain I could really take (wanting to do a natural birth). They continued throughout that night making our walk not that much fun but I did not stop once. I timed through out the night and nothing was regular I’d have a 3 minute apart lasting for a minute then 15 minutes apart lasting maybe 30 seconds. The next day I didn’t really feel any I had dull cramping all day but nothing. That night we walked again and the pain returned I was sweating in pain by the end of our mile and a half walk. That night I did not sleep I would grab anything around me in pain and could not time my contractions I was looking at my phone every 10 minutes exactly. At 7 when my husband woke up he said we needed to go in I told them they were not constant enough and to call and make sure we wouldn’t get sent home because the car ride was too painful for a useless trip. He wouldn’t cal because he knew it time to head in. I finally shower and decide I’ll do the whole “I told you so” if they send us home. At 9:30 am we leave our house he gassed up grab himself a snack and I refuse one even though Im starving because they don’t have donuts. We get to the hospital and the contractions stop I’m telling the ER clerk I hope they don’t send me home that I couldn’t sleep at all that night. They get us back check me I’m all the way effaced but still sitting at a 1 and a half the contractions are there but they suggest coming back after lunch we remind them how far away we live and an hour later they move us into a different room and checked me again I was at a 4 with baby at a +3! The monitors are going off every time I have a contraction a nurse would finally come in freaked out and mess with the heart monitor and leave. The doctor came back around and broke my water after checking me again and still being at a 4. At this time I said I wanted to start the Iv meds because I didn’t know how much more I could take and I knew after breaking water most dilate fast. She put a heart beat monitor in baby’s scalp (that came out after 30 minutes) and informed me that she strongly recommended that I got an epidural because we were looking like a c section if changes didn’t happen soon. Obviously I agreed to do the epidural about an hour later they are trying to put it in while one nurse is on the floor frantically searching for the heartbeat. The doctor comes back in checks me and says I’m not even at a 5 and hubby needs to suit up that we need to do a c section. At 6:56 on the 29th of August Amelia Sue entered this world via c section after having the cord wrapped around her neck and being positioned weird to where she was stuck in the birth canal. 7 pounds 8 oz and 20 and a half inches long.
