Will they take my baby away?

I’m due October 20th I’m 35 weeks now and I’m a nervous wreak. I smoked pot at like 25-26 weeks. Just one hit and that was it and regret it completely. I’m now worried that the baby will come out positive for marijuana when they screen the baby. My boyfriend also smokes on a regular basis I try not to be around the smoke but will that show on the test also. I’m FREAKING OUT! We already have Cps in our lives (I’m 18 and my boyfriend is 17 and they took him into foster care because his mom was homeless even though he wasn’t) I just don’t want to give them any reason to take my son away.

Take a deep breath momma .. this stress isn’t good for you and your baby ...you said you only smoked once and you learned your lesson .. just try not to do it again and tell your bf not to do it while your around so you don’t inhale those fumes ... just pray it’s out of your system and it doesn’t show up on the test and I’m not sure if they will take your baby away or not but since you said you only did it once I think you should be okay just please for the sake of your child don’t do it again

I live in an illegal state have been honest with my Dr about my pot use. Which I use everyday. With my first I used it until 35 weeks. Had him at 38 and no one ever questioned us about having come back positive for marijuana. Which we did. 
Marijuana and it's effects on the baby in the womb and breastfeeding has hardly been studied until recently. So no one really knows the effects but there has been only positive effects for my babies and I. (And many other mothers) so I don't think hospitals or dcf take having it in your system as a big deal as any other actual drugs. If they do call dcf they'll probably check and see that the baby is loved and taken care of and leave you alone. 
I too freaked out during my first pregnancy and it was a whole lot of stress for no reason.

My SIL smoked pot through her entire pregnancy. (Not something I recommend or endorse in anyway) She didn’t have issues when it came to taking her son home. I think you’ll be okay momma.

They won’t take your baby, they usually do that if your baby is withdrawing from a substance which means you were doing hard drugs. They usually take it easy when it comes to pot. But if reported by your doctor to cops they have no choice but to be involved but its still nothing super serious. You’re good love.. you’ll be clean when the baby comes as long as you don’t do it anymore!

Laws change a lot and vary depending on the area you’re in.  Your rights or the outcome of your particular situation will not change just because you know someone who smoked throughout their pregnancy or if you smoked throughout a previous pregnancy. 
Research the laws in your area. Call your local government and ask what their recent initiatives are. Maybe even call the hospital you plan to deliver at and ask anonymously. You’re within your rights to advocate for yourself and your baby.

My sister smoked weed heavily through her entire pregnancy and her blood test came back positive. When her daughter was born there was a child welfare worker there who tested the baby for drugs. Everything was negative, they left her alone. I think you’re fine
