Very low amount when pumping
Hi ladies,
My little guy was having a very hard time breastfeeding up until yesterday when things seemed to ‘click’ a bit better for both of us. It’s not perfect but yesterday was a much better day. Previously, he hadn’t been latching great, was falling asleep and wasn’t swallowing consistently.
Anyway, I’ve cut wayyyy down on pumping now because he is nursing better (and very often). I had been pumping several times a day— say every three hours on average. Now I pump after every other feeding. However, I am getting next to nothing when I pump now... it’s maybe half an ounce to an ounce. That seems to make sense since I’m breastfeeding more but at the same time, I don’t want my supply to dip! I was previously pumping 2-3 ounces after he ‘nursed’ a lot more inefficiently.
I do weigh my little guy before and after feedings and most of the time it seems he is getting a decent amount (2-2.5 ounce) but I’m still just so nervous!
Has this happened to others?
Thanks! This group has been so supportive and helpful. breastfeeding is so much harder than I expected!
