What should I teach a 3 and 1 year old?

I feel like I should teach my niece and nephew something instead of them watching tv all day. What should a 3 and 1 year old learn at that age?

“It’s not your responsibility to teach them” really?
No but if you are a part of their life, why not?
Try “teach my baby to read”. I taught my 18 month old cousin to read 50 words in 3 months.

I wouldn’t be so worried about teaching them. Just be involved and play with them! At that age pretty much any toy/craft/activity can be turned into learning experience. Colors/numbers/animals/shapes. But I definitely agree that interacting with them is much better than watching tv.

Sing the alphabet,  count everything, identify the colors and shapes around them,  its so easy to teach little kids.  (They don't know much.  Haha!!)

Just play with them and within the play find ways to teach. With my daughter who is 2 we play and I ask what color something is or shape. Or what it is (fruit, animal, etc). She knows her letters mostly and her numbers so I’ll ask her what letter or number it is if it’s on something were playing with. Just find the opportunities within the play - you don’t have to go out of your way to make them.

You can read to them. Let them play with toys that teach shapes, colors, etc. Anything that gets them to use their imagination and interaction.

If you wanted to invest in some things for them like those wood puzzles where they match the shapes and stuff (for 3yo) you could take them to library and pick out some books to read as well. Also playing with toys can help them learn. Like if your playing with cars you can tell or teach the 1 yo to say "vrooom vroom" and stuff like that. If your comfortable you can take them on walks or in the back yard and show them leaves and rocks and stuff and play with chalk. You can play nursery songs and dance around or finger painting. Play doh would be fun for the 3 yo
