Can you save a toxic relationship? (No abuse)

I tried to for a year, it hurt me so much. He manipulated me and mentally and verbally abused me, cheated on me, gaslighted me. 
I loved this man so much, now all I feel is hate for him. How can someone who loved you treat you like shit? He knew I loved him and took advantage of that. I have nothing because of him and he’s happy with life. He never cared about me. 
It all makes me feel disgusted I ever had feelings for someone like this. 
Leave while you’re ahead. Do NOT try with a toxic person. They will bring you down and you’ll be left with nothing.

Why would you want to save something that’s toxic? not trying to be mean, just genuinely curious. If you know it’s not healthy, why try and make it work.

I tried for 6 years. I thought it was love. He wasn’t abusive, just verbally made me hate myself. He had a drug problem. He cheated on me so many times. I thought he could change. Some people can’t change. He literally destroyed me. I was so depressed, until i finally left him. After leaving him, 2 weeks later (i know super early) i met the man of my dreams. After almost 2 years I’m still madly in love with him. He shows me everyday what true love his. He worked so hard to gain my trust. He’s the best guy in the whole wide world. Moral of this story. Don’t stick with someone because it’s comfortable,  because it’s all you know. If you know it’s toxic, you should leave; and do what’s best for you.

You have to both be willing to change and work hard; but unfortunately (especially in a toxic relationship) one person is usually way more invested then the other. The invested person ends up doing most of the work while the other never changes. It usually just drags out the inevitable.

To me a toxic relationship with no abuse is just two people who aren’t right for each other, so no it’s not worth trying to save
