If women can't propose, then how do lesbians get married? Do they hire a guy to come in and do it for them? 🤔. On a serious note, as long as you two are happy then who cares who proposes? Your life is yours to live, so don't live it trying to make everyone happy but yourself.

In Ireland and Britain it's actually a tradition that on Leap Year women propose to men. Although in recent years it's common so no it's not wrong

Not at all. I think it's weird that it's expected of men in heterosexual relationships to always make the first move. I asked my partner out, I ask him to go on dates, and I'd propose to him if we decided marriage was something we were ready for. I don't see why it necessarily has to be one person asking the other either, it's something that could easily be a joint effort. Both go out somewhere you enjoy and exchange rings or something. I'd hate to feel the pressure of knowing I was expected to always make the first move just because of my gender

I think women have the right to propose, just as much as men. BUT, generally, women tend to be ready for marriage a lot earlier than men. So it can often put men on the spot and often force them into a corner. My friend proposed to her partner when he nearly died and he initially said yes but they broke up a few months later. They had been together for over 10 years. When this happened my partner told me he doesn’t want me to propose to him, that he would prefer to do it. He said it would make him feel emasculated. I wouldn’t want to do the proposing anyway. I want my partner to declare his love for me and be ready to tell the world he has found the woman he wants to spend his life with.
