Moms with previous boys, what was the process of Circumcision?

***This post is for moms who have sons already who have been circumcised*** 
I'm looking to be educated on the process and not looking to read on things you've "heard" or "think"

Hi, NICU nurse here :)
1. Informed consent
2. Supplies gathered.
3. Baby taken to procedure room. Some docs prefer a papoose, which straps baby's legs down. Otherwise nurse holds legs apart.
4. Pain control: lidocaine (Dr dependent) or sugar water.
5. Procedure takes 10 min or less unless there is a complication.
6. Baby brought back to you for snuggles or feeding
7. Diaper care as others have stated. Usually about a week. Also a good idea to pull back the skin so it doesn't adhere to itself.

In the hospital they took him for about 30 minutes. When they brought him back he was asleep. For the next few days we had to put Vaseline on it at diaper changes and that was it. It healed quickly and nicely and never bothered him one bit.

the doctor would circumcise before you are discharged and the nurses will show and tell you how to care. It's really easy btw. Its definitely swollen and red and purple in color which is scary. I cant remember exactly how long it took to heal, maybe a week or so. Vaseline was our best friend. So definitely get a jar or a tube of that. I've dealt with 2 circumcised boys.

Our pediatrician came to the hospital and performed the procedure the day after my son was born. They have him sugar water during the procedure. When it was done, they brought him back to me. We put Vaseline and non stick gauze pads (so it wouldn’t stick to diaper) on his penis for about 8 days until it was completely healed. It looked incredibly painful but never seemed to bother my son much. I wish someone had warned me how awful it would look though because I burst into tears when I saw it and felt like a horrible mother.

The pediatrician that sees your infant while he is in the nursery will do the procedure after parental consent while you are still admitted. They give the infant a pacifier dipped in sweetUms. The pediatrician then makes a quick clean incision to remove the foreskin. It is over in a matter of minutes. The parents then must place Vaseline around the incision site to prevent the newly healing flesh from sticking to the diaper with each diaper change.

Where I’m from, they don’t do it in the hospital anymore. I actually had to take him to my Gyno office and they did it there a week after he was born. It was so weird and I felt so bad for him. I wish they would’ve done it in the hospital.

Our hospital does the plastibell method, which is like a little plastic “hat” that goes over the glans between it and the foreskin. A very tight rubber ring is then placed into a groove on the “helmet”, cutting off the blood flow to the foreskin. It falls off in about a week, but requires no other care besides regular diaper changes.
They obtained our consent and took him for maybe half an hour and brought him back.

They took him out for both circumcision and hearing test. It was the only time they took him away from me while I was in he hospital and I hated it. But he was only gone about a half hour and they said he didn’t cry.

My brother and SIL had their son last year their doctor wouldn’t do the circumcision so they went the next town over and had it done when their son was 1 month old.
