When did you start pumping

At what point did you start pumping?? 
Is it okay to start pumping before the baby comes so that you can build up your supply??

Answer

You cannot build up your supply before the baby arrives. Your milk does not come in until 2 to 3 days after birth. You only produce colostrum before birth, not milk.

I’ve read not to pump before baby because it can cause labor, but I started pumping as soon as my milk came in. I was too engorged. After it came in, I pumped 10oz out of one boob. I was dying. They do say to be careful pumping before your milk regulates though because it can cause an oversupply of milk.

Dont reccomend bumping before candy is born as it can start labor  and milk doesn't come in for 3-5 days after birth. I was told I could pump right away but it was because I would become so engorged that baby girl wouldn't latch so I would pump couple minute if that to help her. And to empty myself after shes was done nursing. Even still baby is almost 11 weeks and I pump when shes napping and i wake up around 2-3am to pump.

I didn’t start pumping until this past weekend in preparation for going back to work. My daughter is 10 weeks old. I only pump 2-3 times per day while away from her, and I have produced more than what she has been eating.

I waited a month before pumping. Right after you have your baby colostrum is all your breasts have to feed your baby which is the best for them and all they need at the time.
