Should you get your flu shot?

There’s been a lot of discussion in this group lately about it, and I wanted to share this. This is why the CDC recommends flu shots, especially around the holidays and if you are pregnant.

But the vaccination was less than 30% effective 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s important to be informed but many find this vaccination unnecessary. 
Also something for thought....does creating a vaccination for something that changes so drastically each year really benefit us? Or is it contributing to how problematic the flu is actually becoming?

There’s no question. My sister in law got the flu while she was pregnant last year, but it would have been a lot more serious if she didn’t get the flu shot. 
I need to also get it to protect my 3 year old daughter.

To each her own. My family got flu vaccines a few years ago. When I found out that they completely missed the mark and we were protected from nothing, I was very upset and vowed never to get the shots again. However, after last years flu season and a major panic attack about how bad the flu was, I have done as much research as I can. I have spoken with my doctors and feel confident that it will be better to take the chance at a little bit of protection than none at all. The flu shot does not prevent the flu, unfortunately, but it does lessen the symptoms and severity if it is caught. If you want it, get it. If not, don't. There should be no debate or argument because it is just personal preferance and we will never all choose the same way.

If some how you do get the flu is wont be as severe with the vaccine (or so they say) I’m getting it just to be safe but I always do even when not pregnant.

I have only ever gotten it once before, it was protocol for where I worked at the time. I never had the shot, never gotten sick. Being pregnant, I'll get it this year because it also gives baby girl a LITTLE immunity of her own. Being due in November, I'm worried that people who travel to meet her could bring illness, I definitely dont want a newborn to get sick so soon. Theres also many strains of the flu, they only pick what they think will be the most "popular" strain to use for the vaccine, which is why some people still end up sick after, at least with the vaccine you have a better chance of protection.
