Am I Doomed for Induction?! 😩

I’m currently 39 weeks and 4 days. Yesterday I had my doctors appointment. No progress (no dilation or effacement- cervix is high and unfavorable). Baby has not dropped.

My ob said baby and I are healthy so we will just continue waiting. I’m trying to keep my expectations realistic. Is there any chance my baby could come on his own the next two weeks? Or am I pretty much headed towards being induced since he hasn’t even dropped yet? Keep in mind this is my first baby.

I’d especially love to hear from women who were in a similar situation to me (hadn’t dropped close to due date, unfavorable cervix) and DID NOT have an induction scheduled right away. Like I’d love to hear from anyone who waited as long as possible- did the baby come on his or her own? 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m making myself nuts! 🤪
