I couldn’t intentionally kill something other than like a fly or mosquito, so this is so hard!! Obviously, it was an accident and you don’t want the lil guy to suffer, but ugh idk I would have to have someone else kill it because I mean you don’t know what that mouse has and I wouldn’t want to endanger my pets, but it’s still sad.

I don’t think there would be much left to save if I stepped on one...they’re pretty small... but I’ve never stepped on one so I’m not sure. Typically if I find them when they’re alive I put them outside before my cat gets ahold of them.
