Should I do nursing for money?

I’ve been considering since it’s a job security. I don’t like the nursing job duties but the stability..would you do it? But your heart isn’t there?

As a health care professional myself, I really do NOT recommend this job if your heart isn’t in it. 
1. Your patients need you. They need you to be looking out for them and if you dislike your job it will come through. You will be doing them a disservice. And for any health care professional the #1 rule is patient care first.
2. There is job stability and that’s great. But, for the work many health care professionals do, including nurses, you are not paid anywhere near enough. When you love the job that doesn’t matter. But if you’re in this for money you’ll hate it and that just hurts your patients when you hate helping them. The only people that can really get away with being in it for money are doctors and dentists (not always and the majority live their jobs). Because no one else makes anywhere near what they make. 
3. You will put up with a lot. Health care professionals have a incredibly high suicide and mental health problem rate. It’s a very serious problem in the industry. And a lot of it come back to the work load, the nasty patients and their families (sorry not all of them are nice- the things people have said to me for simply doing my job have been horrible). You put in long hours, a lot of blood sweat and tears too. You get very little thanks. If you don’t like this profession it’ll hurt your mental health severely. I love my job and that’s why I can brush off the nasty comments, I don’t care about the never ending days. I’m not fussed when I get covered in who knows what. I live for the good moments, the adrenaline rush, my patients and the medicine/surgery. But if you don’t live for it, the bad piles up way faster. And many who love this work can’t survive the bad. It’s the very scary and sad reality of health care. 
4. Getting into a health care program isn’t easy (depending- you’re saying nursing so I’m assuming RN which is a university degree but other diploma and certificate can be easier). And getting through said program is even harder (anyone that says the hardest part is getting in is either a genius and nothing is that hard or they didn’t get in). And that’s not even covering the financial strain of these programs. It’s a lot. If your heart isn’t in it you won’t do well. You’ll hate it too. 
There are lots of jobs out there with excellent job security. Find out that you love. You’ll be thankful in the end. Health care isn’t a place for someone that hates the daily work we do.

What money? Most nurses aren’t rolling in the dough. If you’re heart isn’t into it and you don’t like “nursing duties” then, please .. for the sake of the patients and for the sake of all the other nurses you may potentially work with, don’t do it.

I’m in nursing school now and it’s super hard. Doing it for money will not make you happy! Find what you like to do

You shouldnt do it if your hearts not in it your dealing with caring for people u need to be all in including your heart. I think you need to look for someth ik nb else dont go into a field if it's just for the $$ or just cuz there will always be a job. Find something you will b all in

Considering it’s a job where you’re caring for people at their weakest moments I think you should definitely have your heart in it... there’s plenty of other career paths that make equal to or more than a nurse.
