Trying to conceive

My bf and i have been trying to get pregnant for three months now with no luck. my question is- is it normal for it to take a while when you’re first trying to conceive? i have friends that say it took them x amount of time to get pregnant which usually is a few months but i was just curious if that happens with a lot of people their first time trying.
